Miami Heat survive a late rally by the OKC Thunder
in Game 2 of the NBA Finals and even the series at
1-1.
The Thunder came within 2 points 21 seconds
remaining in the final period.
Miami started strong and had the
lead most the time and even took a 13-point
advantage at one point in the first half but the OKC
fought back and close the gap. However, unlike in
Game 1, Miami Heat was able to hold on in the clutch
and survive a late surge by the Thunder.
With less than 2 minutes left in
fourth, Miami had the lead but OKC put on the
pressure and force a turnover by Dwayne Wade and
Russel Westbrook found Kevin Durant in the 3-point
region and drained the trey cutting the lead to 2,
98-96.
OKC had the chance to tie the
game. With 12 ticks to go,
Westbrook again found Durant at
the baseline and drove hard against LeBron James,
but he missed a lay-up and James grabbed the rebound
and was fouled by Westbrook. James calmly sank his 2
free throws and Miami took the game.
Durant scored 36 points to lead
the Thunder but fell a basket short to take the game
in OT.
James had 30 points for the Heat.
The series now goes to Miami
starting sunday, June 17 @ 8pm (monday morning -
Manila time)
