Blue Eagles, Nico Salva and Keifer Ravena scored clutch
baskets in overtime to turn back Jose Rizal University
Heavy Bombers, 98-92, and bag the 19th Fr. Martin Summer
Cup Title last sunday, June 10, 2012 at the St. Placid
Gym in San Beda College Manila.
It was the second FMC crown for the Loyola-based cagers
since they last won it back in 2010 over the Mapua
Cardinals.
After receiving a pass from Ravena, Salva drove hard to
the basket and scored on a lay-up putting the Eagles
ahead, 95-92.
In the ensuing play, Ravena, who scored five points in
OT, was fouled and calmly sank two free throws to give
then a 5-point advantage.
Big man, Greg Slaughter score a game-high 28 points and
12 boards to lead the Blue Eagles.
In regulation period, JRU had the chance to win it after
Nate Matute hit a 3-pointer to stay ahead, 84-83 with 23
ticks left. But Juami Tiongson split his charities to
tie the score at 84-all.
The Heavy Bombers was led by Brian Villarias with 21
points.
In the Juniors Division, San Beda Red Cubs beat the
Ateneo Blue Eaglets to claim the FMC Championship.
